About USAT

 
USA Triathlon is the sanctioning authority for more than 2,000 diverse events ranging from grassroots to high profile races nationwide. The organization works to create interest and participation in a variety of programs including camps, clinics, races and educational opportunities.

USA Triathlon’s 100,000-strong membership is comprised of athletes of all ages, coaches, officials, parents and fans striving to strengthen multisport.

On the elite level, USA Triathlon is responsible for the selection and training of teams to represent the United States in international competition, including the world championships, Pan Am Games and Olympic Games. It conducts national camps and clinics and provides coaching education programs.

On the developmental level, USA Triathlon fosters grassroots expansion of the sport, which is facilitated by the sanctioning of age-group events and triathlon clubs. National and regional championships are held for triathletes from junior to senior age divisions.

USA Triathlon's mission is to provide excellence in leadership, structure and education for the growth and development of the sport. USA Triathlon's vision is to set the standard of excellence as a world leader in the sport by promoting a healthy lifestyle and encouraging participation and achievement.

History

The history of USA Triathlon dates back to 1982 when the U.S. Triathlon Association and the American Triathlon Association merged under one unified national governing body called the U.S. Triathlon Association, with 1,500 members. The years since have seen the sport grow exponentially in the United States. Now known as USA Triathlon, membership stands at more than 100,000.  Read More READ MORE

The USAT logo is symbolic of a wave of water, a running track, a bike track, skiing tracks (for winter triathlon) a highway (where we all often ride) or just the moving landscape seen by the multisport enthusiast. Governance

USA Triathlon is governed by the Board of Directors, which has general charge of the business affairs and activities of the organization and defines the policies to be followed in carrying out the purposes of the organization as set down in the bylaws. USA Triathlon has issued a set of rules to maintain consistency and order from race to race across the country.
