Qualification: Twelve spots per age group- roll down to 16th place

2009 Qualification
- The top 12 in each age group, rolling down to 16th place at the Duathlon National Championship, will qualify for the 2009 World Championships in Concord, North Carolina (Sept. 24-26)
- The top three in each age group, rolling down to sixth place (and the roll down spots will need to be within 20% of the age group winner) at the Desert Classic Duathlon will qualify for the 2009 World Championships in Concord, North Carolina (Sept. 24-26)
- The top three in each age group, rolling down to sixth place (and the roll down spots will need to be within 20% of the age group winner) at the Apple Duathlon will qualify for the 2009 World Championships in Concord, North Carolina (Sept. 24-26)
- Athletes must secure their 2009 Worlds slot by the date given by USA Triathlon.
- Age group winners will have two weeks to secure their slot once USAT has contacted them. If the age group winner declines a Worlds slot, the roll down process will begin. The roll down process will be given a two week deadline from the deadline date of the age group winner.
Process for accepting your slot on Team USA
- Athletes must finish in the respective place for their 2009 age group at selected qualifiers
- Athletes must express their intent to be on Team USA during the awards ceremony at the Duathlon National Championship festival by visiting the Team USA table during the awards ceremony.
*Please note: By simply expressing your intent to be on Team USA, you have not officially accepted your slot on Team USA. - USAT will follow up with an email, within one week, instructing automatic qualifiers on how to accept their slot, pay and register for Team USA.
** Athletes must go to the designated registration link provided in the email by the specified deadline to officially accept his/her slot on Team USA. - Roll down athletes will also be emailed and informed of their position on the roll down list. If an athlete wishes to be considered for a slot on Team USA, he/she must respond to their roll down email by the specified deadline expressing his/her intent to join the team.
- Any athlete who neglects to follow these instructions and does not meet the deadlines may face the consequences of losing his/her slot on Team USA.
- If a qualified athlete does not receive an email (possibly due to spam protection or other technical difficulties), be sure to email Team USA at teamusa@usatriathlon.org.
- Once an athlete has registered, paid, and received confirmation, he/she has officially accepted his/her slot on Team USA.
NOTE: For 2010 SC Duathlon Worlds, there will only be one qualifying event.
