Aquathletes Claim National Titles

Twenty-two age group athletes won national titles at the 2008 USA Triathlon Aquathlon National Championship at Bolsa Chica State Park in Huntington Beach, Calif., on Sunday, June 8.
A total of 188 athletes participated in the 1000 meter swim, 5k run event, which was part of the 2008 Zoot Playa del Run Aquathlon (swim/run) & 5k Run Series.
Ninety-four of the participants finished among the top-six in their respective age groups and qualified to compete on Team USA at the ITU Aquathlon World Championships in Monterrey, Mexico on June 28.

World Championship Qualification
Any former Team USA Aquathlon member is pre-qualified to compete in the World Championship race.
Additionally, any athlete who finishes among the top three per age group per gender at any USAT sanctioned aquathlon will be allowed to compete at the World Championships, as well.
To the extent that World Championship slots are still available, athletes may also submit a 5-kilometer run time and a 1000-meter swim or one mile swim to the Aquathlon Committee for consideration. Contact USAT National Events.
