USA Triathlon will induct its inaugural Hall of Fame class at a banquet on Saturday, January 17 in Colorado Springs, Colo., and all this week Endurance Planet will take the opportunity to get to know the five Hall-of-Famers better... their philosophies, their training habits, their legacies in the sport.

Today we hear from Karen Smyers. Smyers is a woman who doesn't know the word "quit." Despite numerous setbacks including a severed hamstring and a battle with thyroid cancer, she's compiled a resume in the sport of triathlon that is simply amazing. Her 1995 double of winning at Kona and returning two weeks later to capture the ITU triathlon world title is perhaps the single most remarkable achievement in the sport to date. Today on Endurance Planet, Smyers shares her philosophy on training, racing, and life.
