USA Triathlon Foundation Supports i-tri as Founding Impact Partner

by USA Triathlon

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The USA Triathlon Foundation today announced a five-year partnership with nonprofit i-tri, which empowers adolescent girls through the sport of triathlon, as the organization’s first Impact Partner.

Through the Impact Partner Program, the USA Triathlon Foundation supports community organizations dedicated to making an impact related to the Foundation’s three pillars – Encouraging youth participation, Inspiring pathways to access and inclusion and Igniting Olympic and Paralympic dreams.

“The work that i-tri has been doing to empower young girls through sport has been incredible, and embodies the mission of the USA Triathlon Foundation. They have been a pillar grant recipient of the Foundation in the past, and the USA Triathlon Foundation is excited to partner with them as a Founding Impact Partner,” said Victoria Brumfield, USA Triathlon CEO. “The USA Triathlon Foundation’s multi-year grant Impact Partner Program aims to provide opportunities for long-term organizational sustainability and program growth and impact.”

“We are so grateful and honored to be USA Triathlon Foundation’s first official Impact Partner. Multi-year funding commitments are so critical to the success of organizations like i-tri, which offer their programming, equipment, and training at no charge to participants’ families,” said Theresa Roden, founder and chief visionary officer of i-tri. “This partnership will allow us to plan for growth in a fiscally responsible way, so that even more girls will discover through the sport of triathlon that they are capable, brave, and strong!”

As a Founding Impact Partner, i-tri will receive funding over the next five years from the Foundation to support i-tri’s inclusive, community-based program that fosters self-respect, personal empowerment, self-confidence, positive body image and healthy lifestyle choices for adolescent girls. Based in New York, i-tri works with middle-school aged girls, supporting the group through training for a youth-distance triathlon as a metaphor for life’s journey.

Multi-year funding for the Foundation's first Impact Partner was made possible through the generous support of Bill Conway.

The USA Triathlon Foundation is committed to providing funding that supports organizations and individuals making positive change in the multisport community by opening pathways for all. Organizations that have demonstrated both need and a sustainable and scalable impact can become USA Triathlon Impact Partners. These organizations are eligible for multi-year grants as well as consistent year-over-year promotion of their efforts. Impact Partners are asked to share content related to their grant throughout the year as well as participate in designated stewardship activities, such as attending Foundation events, and engaging in donor calls and other donor recognition efforts.

The USA Triathlon Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and the charitable arm of USA Triathlon. With its mission to transform lives through sport by providing opportunities to swim, bike and run, the Foundation serves to generate a greater impact on the multisport community through charitable giveback and grants that advance the Foundation’s three pillars: (1) Encourage youth participation; (2) Inspire pathways to access and inclusion; and (3) Ignite Olympic/Paralympic dreams. Since the Foundation was established in 2014, it has impacted the lives of thousands by providing grants to organizations and individuals in pursuit of its mission and pillars to create a healthier United States through triathlon.
