Age Group Team USA Races at 2024 World Triathlon Age Group Championships Torremolinos-Andalucia

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Over 500 Age Group Team USA triathletes will compete Oct. 17-20 in Torremolinos, Spain, at the 2024 World Triathlon Age Group Championships.  

Made up of age-group athletes who qualify at USA Triathlon National Championships, Team USA competes in the annual World Triathlon World Championships, which attracts the best age group athletes from over 50 countries across the globe. 

The Sprint Distance Triathlon will kick off Thursday, Oct 17, consisting of a 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike and 5k run. The Standard Distance Triathlon is on Saturday, Oct. 19, followed by the Standard Distance Aquabike race. The Standard Distance Triathlon includes a 1500m swim, 38.9k bike and a 10k run, while the Standard Aquabike consists of a 1500m swim and 38.9k bike.  

Age Group triathletes will finish the weekend on Sunday, Oct. 20, for the Triathlon Mixed Relay, with teams made up of four triathletes (two female, two male) who will each complete a 250m swim, 6k bike and 1.5k run. 

In addition to the four races, athletes can participate in the Parade of Nations, as well as the opening and closing ceremonies. 

Age Group Team USA is represented by over 500 triathletes, hailing from nearly every U.S. state. The oldest U.S. triathletes competing are 90-year-old Jim Farr (Willis, Texas) and 83-year-old Peggy Mcdowell-Cramer (Santa Monica, Calif.), and the youngest triathletes are 16-year-olds Lucas Locke (Plano, Texas) and Sarah Peebles (Lowville, N.Y.). 

In addition to the 2024 World Triathlon Age Group Championships, Team USA athletes also competed at the 2024 World Triathlon Multisport Championships in Townsville, Australia, in August, where they took home 60 medals. Team USA athletes also competed in other multisport world championships this year including 2024 World Triathlon Powerman Long Distance Duathlon Championships Zofingen and the World Triathlon Winter Championships in Italy.
