COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- USA Triathlon today announced the full race schedule for the 2025 USA Paratriathlon Nationals Qualifier Series. Formerly named the Paratriathlon Development Series, the 2025 USA Paratriathlon Nationals Qualifier Series provides competitive paratriathlon race opportunities at local, USA Triathlon sanctioned events in the U.S. for emerging paratriathletes who aspire to compete at the elite level.

Participants in the series will be able to gain experience racing on triathlon courses designed for paratriathlon and qualify for the 2025 and 2026 USA Triathlon Paratriathlon National Championships. The 2025 Paratriathlon National Championships will be held in Milwaukee on Aug. 10, in conjunction for the first time with USA Triathlon Sprint and Olympic Distance National Championships, USA Triathlon’s largest annual National Championship event.

“We’ve set a bold goal of having 100 paratriathletes and adaptive athletes compete at Nationals in Milwaukee this August,” said USA Triathlon Paralympic Program Senior Manager, Lindsey Jerdonek. “To work toward this goal, we have increased the number of race opportunities in the Qualifier Series by adding venues and introducing the Series to new regions of the country with strong adaptive communities. Race directors have jumped onboard to ensure their courses are para-friendly and foster an inclusive triathlon community for our athletes. We are excited to build momentum through the Paratriathlon Nationals Qualifier Series for the Paralympic Games at LA2028 and beyond!”

To compete at Paratriathlon Nationals in Milwaukee, athletes must be officially classified in a paratriathlon sport class, or have been given a provisional classification, and must meet the qualification standards found under Event Qualification Criteria.

All races in the USA Paratriathlon Nationals Qualifier Series will be sprint-distance, covering a 750-meter swim, 20-kilometer bike and 5-kilometer run. Athletes must have a USA Triathlon membership and be classified in a paratriathlon sport class, or have been given a provisional classification. Athletes with physical or visual impairments, that are not classified or not qualified for the other division, can race in the ATD1 (Adaptive Triathlon Division 1) series races and in Milwaukee alongside Paratriathlon Nationals.  Athletes who are not currently nationally or internationally classified but are interested in competing may email USA Paratriathlon for more information about getting a provisional classification.

Each Series race will have a pre-race clinic tailored to the athletes and course, which will be led by a USA Triathlon Para Certified Coach.
