COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The multisport industry made a powerful statement of unity and growth as race directors, club leaders, coaches, and other industry stakeholders gathered Feb. 6-7 in Colorado Springs for the first of five Endurance Exchange Regional Meetings. Hosted by USA Triathlon, this event kicked off a nationwide series designed to foster collaboration, innovation, and leadership across the endurance sports community.

With a solid, multifaceted turnout, the event underscored the strength and resilience of the multisport industry. Attendees engaged in high-impact discussions, networking opportunities, and educational sessions, all geared toward advancing the sport and supporting those who drive its success. The strong presence of industry professionals reflected a shared commitment to enhancing race experiences, growing participation, and ensuring the long-term health of the sport.

"This regional approach to the Endurance Exchange is about bringing the community together in a meaningful way," said Victoria Brumfield, USA Triathlon CEO. "The energy and engagement we’ve seen here in Colorado Springs set a strong foundation for the upcoming events across the country."

With four more regional gatherings on the horizon, the momentum from Colorado Springs signals a bright future for the multisport industry, reinforcing USA Triathlon’s leadership in fostering collaboration and innovation.

The first session highlighted USA Triathlon’s 2024 State of the Sport Survey. Produced for the third consecutive year by Sponsorship Research International (SRi), the USA Triathlon State of the Sport Survey provides valuable insights on the current state of the multisport industry and USA Triathlon membership. USA Triathlon annual members, including coaches, race directors and club leaders were surveyed to help identify key trends in the endurance sports industry. Julie Zdziarski of SRi discussed the key trends from the survey, highlighting key findings that are helpful for race directors and coaches as they plan their business for 2025 and beyond.

The second session of the morning was presented by USA Triathlon’s Chief Growth and Marketing Officer, Krista Prescott, on 2024 regional and national participant data, event trends and membership. Each regional meeting highlights statistics nationally and from their region, giving attendees the opportunity to see USA Triathlon membership and events data to help them grow in their respective areas of the industry.

USA Triathlon’s Senior Director of Constituent Growth and Retention, Darren Jacoby, led an open discussion focusing on the types of events and experiences athletes are currently seeking. Additionally, they dove into topics including the differentiators and disruptors that can stimulate growth in the industry, and strategies to expand reach in multisport.

“Meetings like this are so important because it gives members of the [multisport] community opportunities to ask questions that you may not have anticipated which leads to follow-on conversations, which teach us all something about triathlon,” said Rick Bolin, Club Representative for the South Metro Denver Triathlon Club.

The afternoon sessions highlighted personalized case study and best practice workshops tailored for race directors, clubs and coaches, followed up by a networking hour, highlighting building a cohesive eco-system that supports athletes through their journey in multisport. Attendees generated ideas for actionable collaboration between the constituent groups that would be mutually beneficial for everyone.
