COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The College Triathlon Coaches Association (CTCA) released its list of Scholar All-Americans, recognizing women’s varsity student-athletes and teams that excelled both in the classroom and on the race course during the 2020-2021 season.

Collegiate varsity teams were recognized on academic performance based on a collective overall GPA of 3.2 or higher for the complete team roster. A total of 26 teams earned the honor across all Division I, Division II and Division III varsity women’s collegiate triathlon programs. Coe College (Cedar, Rapids, Iowa), a DIII program, earned the highest collective GPA across any varsity team at 4.00.

At the individual level, 129 varsity student athletes earned the Scholar All-American honor. These were awarded to athletes who competed in the 2020-21 Women’s Collegiate Triathlon National Championships (all divisions) and maintained a GPA of 3.5 or better throughout the 2021 spring semester of competition.

Across all three divisions, Arizona State University (Tempe, Ariz.) had the most Scholar-All Americans, with 12 student athletes receiving the honor.

The NCAA named triathlon an Emerging Sport for Women in 2014, a designation that gives the sport a 10-year window to demonstrate sustainability at the NCAA level. Currently, thirty-seven colleges and universities across the country currently sponsor the sport at the varsity level; click here to view the full list of programs.
