SWANSEA, Great Britain — It was a successful day of podiums for the U.S. as six elite paratriathletes medaled in the 2023 World Triathlon Para Series Swansea (WTPS), including golds from Allysa Seely (Glendale, Ariz., PTS2), Emma Meyers (Pensacola, Fla., PTS4) and Grace Norman (Jamestown, Ohio, PTS5).

As the fourth stop in the WTPS and the last WTPS before the World Championships in September, Swansea welcomed athletes racing for Paralympic qualification points toward the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games next summer. Due to rainy weather conditions, the bike course was canceled, meaning the elites competed on a swim-run, aquathlon course.

Seely secured her first WTPS gold of the season in the women’s PTS2 event. She crossed the line in 38 minutes, 50 seconds.

In the women’s PTS4 sport class, Meyers earned her first-career Para Series win. After only joining the WTPS circuit this year, Meyers clocked a 38:47 to collect the gold. Kendra Herber (Monroe, Ohio) then joined her on the podium with a third-place finish with a time of 39:38. She earned a back-to-back bronze, after claiming one in Montreal last weekend.

The final women’s medal and win came from Norman in the PTS5 division. By clocking a time of 30:35, she kept her undefeated season alive along with her second WTPS gold this season.

On the men’s side, Mark Barr (Davis, Calif.) earned the silver medal in the PTS2 event. Swansea was his first WTPS showing this season, and his 33:44 finish was enough to land on the podium.

Carson Clough (Charlotte, N.C.) has raced in every Para Series event this season. After claiming the silver last weekend in Montreal in the PTS4 sport class, he secured another podium in Swansea by finishing third with a time of 29:28.

Eric McElvenny (Pittsburgh, Pa.) rounded out the U.S. showcase by finishing seventh (PTS4) with a time of 31:13.
