Howie Sanborn wins the 2025 World Triathlon Para Series Devonport
DEVONPORT, Australia — The 2025 World Triathlon Para Series kicked off on Friday, March 14, in Devonport, Tasmania, with two U.S. elite paratriathletes competing and earning wins.
Paris 2024 Paralympian Howie Sanborn won gold in the men's PTWC race, delivering a standout performance to clock a time of 1 hour, 9 minutes, 33 seconds in the sprint-distance triathlon. Sanborn powered through the course to secure victory, marking a strong start to his 2025 season.
Sanborn was joined on the podium by Japan’s Jumpei Kimura, who claimed silver and Australia’s Dave Miln, who took bronze in front of an enthusiastic home crowd. With this win, Sanborn sets the tone for what promises to be an exciting season ahead.
Sanborn's U.S. teammate, Michelle Dynes showcased her strength and strategy in the women’s PTS5 race, claiming gold with an impressive race set-up. From the start, Dynes executed a well-planned and powerful performance, securing victory and laying a strong foundation for her season ahead.
The 2025 World Triathlon Para Series features several key events across the globe. After commencing in Devonport, Tasmania, the series will continue in Yokohama, Japan, on May 17.
