World Triathlon and the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) announced today the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will feature 11 medal events for Paratriathlon — three more medal events than the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games — and the quota will increase to 120, 40 more than Tokyo 2020.

The announcement follows the IPC Governing Board’s approval of the final medal events program and athlete quotas for the next Paralympic Games following a lengthy consultation exercise with all the international federations.

The three new medal events for Paris 2024 are Men's PTS2, Men's PTS3 and Women's PTS4.

The 11 medal events IPC has confirmed from World Triathlon’s proposal are: Men’s PTWC, PTS2, PTS3, PTS4, PTS5 and PTVI, and Women’s PTWC, PTS2, PTS4, PTS5 and PTVI.

Regarding the athlete quota, the IPC has confirmed 54 men (18 more than in Tokyo), 50 women (14 more than in Tokyo) and another 18 spots for invitations, with no gender pre-determined yet, for a total of 120 Paratriathletes competing at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. At Tokyo 2020, 80 Para athletes competed across eight medal events.

In total, the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games will feature a maximum of 4,400 Para athletes who will compete in 549 medal events across 22 Para sports. The Games will include a record 235 medal events for women, eight more than at Tokyo 2020.
