Personal
Growing up in a military family, John was a seasoned traveler before earning his professional license. His family bounced from coast to coast, but currently reside in Virginia Beach. John is one of seven kids with three brothers and three sisters, all homeschooled by their mom. Originally, John wanted to be a Navy Pilot like his dad, so he committed to the University of Utah on a Navy ROTC scholarship, but then gave up his scholarship to pursue professional triathlon. John is currently based in Salt Lake City, but claims Crested Butte, Colorado, as his favorite bike ride location. His dad inspired him to compete in his first triathlon, but John also credits Wes Johnson, his first coach, in being instrumental in his triathlon career. Fun fact, John looks forward to Crumbl reviews every Monday, although he has never had one of their cookies!

2024: Placed 1st overall in his professional debut at the World Triathlon Cup Karlovy Vary in September • Placed 15th at the World Triathlon Championship Series Weihai • Placed 6th among U23 men at the World Triathlon Championship Finals Torremolinos and was a part of the 8th place U23 Mixed Relay Team • Finished the 2024 season with a sixth place finish at the World Triathlon Cup Brasilia.
