Athletes race at Long Course National Championships in Daytona, Florida.
Long course multisport athletes raced for national titles in long course triathlon, long course duathlon and long course aquabike on Dec. 3 at Daytona International Speedway for the 2023 USA Triathlon Long Course National Championships, organized by CLASH Endurance.
Athletes raced on the iconic Daytona International Speedway, giving athletes the unique opportunity to finish their races in style on the world’s most famous racetrack.
Caroline Kaplan captured the women’s national title in long course triathlon, completing the 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike and 13.1-mile run in a time of 4 hours, 25 minutes, 6 seconds. Marni Sumbal finished close behind in 4:26:44, while Jennifer Hannigan placed third overall in 4:29:02.
Javier Figueroa won the men’s long course triathlon national title in 3:56:32. He was joined on the overall podium by Mitchell Ott (3:59:05) and Brad Bischoff (4:02:53).
Mark Furler (4:05:38) and Kimberly Wikel (4:35:04) won the men’s and women’s national titles in long course duathlon (run-bike-run).
Dani Rodriguez (2:35:24) and Stephanie Oechsner (2:42:00) captured the men’s and women’s national titles in long course aquabike (swim-bike).
In addition to the overall national titles, athletes also raced for national titles in their respective age groups. These results are reflected below.
Athletes raced not only for national titles, but also for the chance to qualify for Team USA, the group of amateur, age group athletes who represent the U.S. at World Championships. Long Course National Championships qualified athletes for the 2024 World Triathlon Multisport Championships Townsville.
