Personal
Gina grew up in Wisconsin with her parents, David and Jennifer, and twin brother, Jeff. She grew up in an athletic family, both of her parents long-distance triathletes. This background led her to the University of Michigan where she ran Cross Country and Track, becoming the first woman since 1990 to sweep the 5000 and 10,000 meters titles at the Big Ten Championships with victories in both events. While racing at Michigan, she studied Mechanical Engineering and got her Masters during her fifth year. After college, Gina found triathlon through the Collegiate Recruitment Program in 2018, and fell in love with the sport because of the people she met through the CRP. She also met Barb Lindquist, who has been an instrumental part of her journey. When she is not training and racing, Gina is a full-time Systems Engineer at NASA, working in a jet propulsion laboratory for a Class B discovery mission. Gina trains in the morning, goes to work from 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., and will later train more. Fun fact: Gina and her twin were born on either side of midnight, meaning they are twins with different birthdays!
